  Custom Closed Cell Rubber Gaskets

Closed Cell Sponge Rubber Gaskets

Closed cell sponge rubber, technically referred to as expanded rubber, consists of cells that are like individual balloons holding gas and not allowing moisture to pass through as long as the cell wall has not burst. The raw compound is mixed on the same type of equipment used to mix solid rubber compounds, but a chemical blowing agent is also added. Under the heat and pressure of a pre-cure or pre-forming process, this additive decomposes and mixes with the rubber compound and generates nitrogen gas. As this reaction is occurring, the mixed batch is placed into an oven and allowed to expand into a bun from 2" to 4" thick.  The material is then skived to thicknesses from .062" and up.

Closed Cell sponge rubber gaskets are utilized in variety of industries and applications including, Automotive, Applicance, Construction, Sports Equipment, Office Equimpment, Electrical Enclosures, Heating/Air, Lighting and more.

  Poron Gaskets

Poron® Microcellular Urethane Foam Gaskets

PORON® Microcellular Urethane foams offer a broad range of design solutions for gasketing, sealing, vibration and sound dampening and energy absorption. Low compression set and low outgassing features make these high performance foams ideal for applications in communications, automotive, electronic, and other industrial devices.

  • Excellent compression set resistance which enables durable, long-term performance for gasketing, sealing, and cushioning.
  • Low-outgassing and non-fogging, containing no plasticizers or residual chemicals to contaminate the device. The material will not become brittle and crumble and is non-corrosive to metal.
  • Inherently flame retardant without the use of additives. Many of the materials meet flammability requirements of UL HBF and MVSS 302.
  • Engineered urethane formulations offering a wide modulus range - 2-90 psi @ 25% deflection – for more design versatility requirements.
  • Good chemical resistance
  • Easy to fabricate, die-cuts cleanly and works with a broad range of adhesives
  • Broad range of formulas and thicknesses from 0.012" to 0.500" (0.43mm to 12.7mm)

  Silicone Sponge Rubber Gaskets

Silicone Sponge Gaskets

Silicone sponge has the combined properties of resilience, high temperature stability and general inertness unavailable in any other elastomer. Silicones are generally unaffected by extended exposure to temperatures from -100°F to 500°F, and are also unaffected by aging and degradation from sunlight and ozone.

Silicone sponge materials are available with a wide range of properties including products with low compression set properties, UL94HB flame ratings*, thermal conductivity, fluid and fuel resistant fluorosilicone and general purpose silicones. We regularly apply a variety of acrylic and silicone polymer based adhesive backings and offer secoESD surface coating,
